Ken Rubin hosted our September Pistons & Pints at his home in St. Albans. As always, most everyone had a great time and the food was abundant and excellent. I had never had low country boil but it was delicious. All the ingredients seemed to pick up some of the flavor of the other ingredients and the Prawns were absolutely huge. Ken also had burgers and several members brought dishes to share.

Ken invited his girlfriend Susie's family as well. They were a great addition. They brought a Cornhole game that was a lot of fun.

If you missed this event you really missed out. Ken enjoys entertaining and I imagine he will host us again. His...

Charlie Justice called a Flash Cruise to Fayetteville for Sunday the 25th at 1:00 PM. It was a grand success. We had 16 cars and 28 or 29 people. This is one of the largest cruises we have ever had. It equaled a cruise we had earlier when Dan was our President.

The weather was perfect. Several folks responded saying that they would be there and even more showed up unannounced. That is exactly how a Flash Cruise works. Charlie has volunteered to be our cruise director but anyone can call a Flash Cruise at anytime. A Flash Cruise is a cruise that is unplanned and on short notice. The last one we had was to the Steak Escape in Barbou...

Charlie & Cindra Justice called a Flash Cruise Sunday morning. We met at the Sonic in St. Albans at 10:30 AM. After a slight delay we headed down Rt. 60 toward  Barboursville. I loved driving on Rt. 60. It's freshly paved from St. Albans to the Putnam County line. It is very smooth and quite enjoyable.

On the cruise were Charlie & Cindra Justice, Dave & Paulette Neil, me, and Mark & Connie Mason driving their yellow TR6 for it's maiden cruise. The car performed well but Mark has additional plans for it. Along the way we passed Dan Blackwood's house and he was waiting for us at the end of his driveway. He joined the cruise at that p...

Three British cars from Charlotte, NC traveled through our area on their way to Traverse City, MI for the annual meet of the North American MGB Register. They stopped over in Charleston and we hosted a cookout for them at Kevin's Garage (KARS) in Dunbar. With the 6 people traveling through the area and our members we had 40 people attend this event. It was our monthly Pistons & Pints event.

As always, Kevin was a wonderful host. We used the lifts as tables to eat at along with tables and chairs under canopies outside. We also had British Invasion music playing. Beatles, Monkeys, Doors, and other British bands from the 60s.

The weath...

This was another wonderful cruise. Our members never disappoint when it comes to planning cruises. Richard Stephenson put together a great cruise that was somewhat different than some of our other cruises.

The first thing he did was order up a beautiful day, all be it a little cool. We started at the Scott Depot park & ride and traveled a new route. We went over to Winfield and then over Red House hill and eventually to Fairplane and the Yacht Club and Distillery.

Near by were the stockyards and there was quite a bit of activity over there. Lots of cattle being brought in for sale and the cows were letting their displeasure known. I...

Our annual Valentines Day Dinner was held on February the 14th at Angela's on the River in beautiful downtown St. Albans. Everyone had a great time and as usual the food was excellent but the service was a little slow. I think that's understandable since they had to serve 33 people all at the same time. Next year I think we will ask them to do a buffet. I've been to functions there when the food was served buffet style and it was excellent.

I welcomed everyone to the dinner and expressed my gratitude for the attendance. It seems like every time we have a function the number of people grows and this year was no exception. I am honor...

Pistons & Pints is always a big success. January was no exception. 24 WVBCC members got together for good times and good food. I"m always very thankful for the participation of the members of this club. I know I shouldn't be because, let's face it, who wouldn't want to hang out with these wonderful people? If you were unable to come I sincerely hope you will be able to come to the next one.

Next month is one of our most popular events of the year. Our Valentines Day dinner. Ken Rubin has arranged for us to gather at Angela's on the River in St. Albans at 6:00 PM. We were there last year and everyone loved the atmosphere and the fo...

It was another great event with Kevin Roberts hosting the WVBCC members at his newly opened garage on Roxalana Rd. in Charleston.

We had over 20 members attend this function and I believe we all had a great time; as we always do. You can see by the pictures who was there. We also welcomed a new member Jack & Beverly Sampson with his 73 Triumph GT6.

Advance Auto Parts commercial division provided some door prizes. Thank you Advance Auto Parts!

We also had some Marshall vs FAU football tickets donated. We gave those away as the grand prize. Kevin's best friend Tommy won them but since he wasn't able to use them we gave them to Richard...

The Charleston Boulevard Rod Run & Doo Wop kicked off Wednesday evening with a cruise-in at Cabela's and Home Depot. Home Depot joined in on the fun this year which I think was a good move. Last year there were so many cars that the Cabela's parking lot was full and cars had to park along the side of the building. That was not a good spot to be.

We had a few cars participate. Rick & Prema Ray, Me, Steve Ewing & his friend the Colonel, Brent Van Deysen, Richard Stephenson, Larry Stonestreet and Larry & Chris Kopelman.

Below are some photos I took. The 55 Chevy was a new creation from David Smith. That car was flawless. Brent...

Thanks to all the folks from East Bank High School their friends and guests for making us feel welcome. It was another great evening. We were once again asked to tend bar and handle the registration desk.

Wow; these folks know how to party. With the Esquires playing classic music, WVBCC serving refreshments, Tudors/Gino's catering the food, and The Charleston Metro Band, how could it have been any better. The Charleston Metro Band was a new addition this year and they were great. We've got three of our members in the band. Larry Kopelman, Jimmy Lee and Rusty Patrick.

We've gotten to know some of the people from East Bank and they se...
