The car show boys were at it again at Midway Ford. I brought my TR6, Kevin brought the now famous Miata, John had his MGB and Paul Davis brought his most excellent Mustang. We've been to this show in the past and have always enjoyed it. There were a couple of changes this year. Last year they had free hot dogs, this year ... not free.

They also had a rolling road, that's how the british say it. I'm not sure how much it cost to put your car on the dyno but I know it wasn't free. It was a great opportunity to blow up your car and a couple of guys did. One guy blew a radiator hose and another lost the drive shaft. We opted not t...

Ken Rubin, our veteran who earned the Distinguished Service Cross, invited us to participate in this parade. We wanted to support, not only Ken, but all of the Vietnam Veterans.

Of course Ken was there with his beautiful wife Barbara, I was there, Barry McCoy came in from Ohio and Steve Ewing was there. All of us have been associated with the military in one way or another. Ken as a bonafide hero, me as a Vietnam era veteran, Barry as a Vietnam era veteran and our resident military expert and star of many Military Channel TV shows Steve Ewing. Steve was also the curator of the Naval museum at Patriots Point in South Carolina, home...

Pistons & Pints was not as well attended as the first one we had. The first one at Fat Patty's had 20 attendees. The next one was a Happy Days Cafe and we had 10 people. We thought that the lack of pints may have kept the attendance down so we added the pints back by having it at Fat Patty's again this month. The attendance was still at 10.

Next month will be more popular because we are planning a cookout at St. Albans Roadside Park. It's scheduled for Tuesday June 14th. at the usual hour of 6 PM. Kevin Roberts has graciously volunteered to do the cooking. The club will provide the burgers, buns, chips, condiments, etc. and you ge...

The Golden Oldies Car Club had their spring car show today and boy was it cold. Not cold for winter but cold for May. We had our tops up while traveling but put them down at the show. Well, Kevin and I put ours down. John left his up. I think John puts his top down as much as Kevin Worthy puts his up. Anyway, we all know that life is better with the top down.

I was there with my TR6, Kevin Roberts had his awesome British Inspired Miata, John Riffe and his MGB were there and Steve Ewing with his 427 powered Corvette was there and Larry Kopelman showed up sans car. Jimmy Lee was also there but he was parked with his buddies from DuP...

I just returned from four days in the Smokies, looking at some of the coolest British cars around.  The 20th annual BritishV8 Meet was held at the Talley Ho Inn in Townsend, Tennessee.

Some of the highlights of the meet, besides looking at the interesting ways people have adapted their LBCs to perform better, was a visit to the Tennessee Aircraft Museum, drives in the Smokies, and of course the Tail of the Dragon.  The meet was capped off with a fine barbecue dinner and local old-time musicians playing stringed instruments including dulcimers, banjos, fiddles, mandolin, guitar, etc.

As most of you know, Jim Blackwood and I, b...

Our first official club sponsored event of the year was a resounding success. This is a cruise that was started the first year of the club and has been an annual event ever since. This year we had 12 cars and 17 People. That's the most participation we have ever had.

The weather was great and the cars performed almost perfectly. Bill & Lillie Hall had a slight brake problem but nothing Bill couldn't handle. It was a little bit concerning since brakes are kinda important in the mountains.

I think the road up Gauley Mountain is a great road for our cars. The curves aren't so close together that you can't get up any speed but ye...

The car events are starting to pick up. I'm sure we're all looking forward to doing the things we love to do with our cars. Whether it be car shows, cruises, or just hanging out with other car guys.

We got together at the Golden Corral for our monthly get together and talked about some of the things we are planning to do. Richard Stephenson brought some brochures from his friend's bed & breakfast when we go on our Virginia cruise. I asked that others contribute to the blog we have started. Just send me your article and maybe some pictures and I'll post it to the website. The folks at the meeting were Kevin Roberts, Dan Blackwood a...
