Bill opened the meeting by first greeting all those present, then starting a discussion on the Greenbrier Concours d'Elegance. Dan Blackwood has arranged for a discounted group rate at the Quality Inn in Lewisburg with a block of 10 rooms reserved for WVBCC members. The rate is $85 instead of $110 per night. Registration for the Concours can be made at their website (https://www.greenbrierconcours.com/). Richard Stephenson informed us that each car is to pay $50 for the Saturday show and that also allows entrance to the Sunday Concours. Additional passes for Sunday are also $50. Bill Hall has offered to host a cookout Saturday evening at his friends house in Roncevert. It's only about a 10 minute drive from Lewisburg. We decided that each of us would pay Bill and his friend for the food. Bill has indicated that he and his friend want to provide the food without cost to the members. Members who said they would be participating in the show are: Richard Stephenson, Barry McCoy, Ken Rubin, Mark Mason, Bill Michael, Dave Neil,, Charlie Justice and Bill Hall. Richard suggested that we gather at our normal place at the corner of Greenbrier St. and Washington St. near the State Capitol. We would leave at 1:00pm on Friday May the 4th. We should have additional details at our next meeting on April the 7th.
We talked briefly about the World of Wheels car show in Huntington today. Don Gross is there with his Studebaker pickup truck and John Riffe is there with his Corvair.
We inquired about the condition of Frank Shuler. Ken Rubin had communicated with him recently and it appears that he is no better.
Nathan Arnette mentioned the NAMGBR national meet in Gettysburg, PA. It is to be held June 18th – 22nd.
We recapped the Valentine's Day Dinner at Angela's on the River in St. Albans. Everyone had a great time, the food was excellent and the service good. Pam Blackwood won the ladies door prize and Brent Van Deysen won the men's door prize.
Bill Michael asked that the people who were present to fill out a new membership form. The purpose is to update our data and then make that information available in the Members Only section of our website.
Bill also thanked all the members of the NAMGBR for maintaining their membership. That allows our club to have insurance as a result of us being a chapter of the NAMGBR.
Richard Stephenson and Dan Blackwood told us about The Gathering at Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, NC. It is an all British car show hosted by the Triumph Club of The Carolinas. The dates are April 20th – 22nd. Richard also mentioned that his friend, Michael Cruz, has 3 free rooms for any members who would like to take advantage of them.
We discussed how best to talk among club members about shops where members have done business and what their experiences have been. We decided to try the forum on the web page. It will be located in the Members Only section of the website. We also decided that only positive comments would be posted along with the member's name and contact information with a note that they can be contacted for further information.
There were 2 small door prizes but I can't remember who won them.
President Michael adjourned the meeting at 10:40AM for the after meeting kibitzing session.
Respectfully Submitted Bill Michael - President
