Minutes of Meeting
July 11, 2020
Members Present were: Kevin & Teresa Halloran, Larry Kopelman, Barry McCoy, Don & Susan Jeffers, Jack & Bev Sampson, David Neil, Mike Berlin, George White, Dan Blackwood, Mark Mason, Bill Michael, Richard Reese, Charles Hypes, Ken Rubin and Diana, William Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Bill Michael, President, at approximately 10:40 AM. The meeting was held at Richard Reese’s garage in Hurricane.
Bill thanked Richard for the use of his wonderful garage and “man-cave” which contains many interesting artifacts from his military career.
He then reviewed last month’s cruise to Tu-Endie-Wei State Park in Point Pleasant. Even with the heat, we had a good time and pleasant picnic under a shelter at the park.
Upcoming Shows & Events
Most car show events and gatherings have been cancelled, however, Mid-Ohio did have its Vintage Grande Prix in June. The big sponsors, including Moss Motors, pulled out. Bill had reservations, but opted not to go.
Bill led a discussion of the events that, to date, have not been cancelled:
WV British Car Club show Oct 10th at the Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston.
Schenley Park, Pittsburgh July 17 – 27 Vintage Grande Prix: Although the vintage race week has been cancelled, several events are still scheduled, including several cruises.
Solid Goldtown Car Show Aug 22nd. Larry Bailey, who also does the WV Int’l Car Show is organizing this event.
Greenbrier Concours D’Elegance Car Show Sept 4 thru 6: features the Concours Show on Sunday, a Friday evening cruise & reception, Cars & Cocktails on the golf course on Saturday sponsored by Smooth Ambler Spirits. We will get a block of rooms for those who wish to attend and, as in the past Bill Hall will check with his friend, Doug Myers, about the possibility of a cookout at his place in Ronceverte.
No word as yet from Greg & Kay Irvin about their annual British Car & Motorbike show at their place in Jackson Ohio on Labor Day weekend.
Xmas Party / Other
Bill mentioned that we should start planning for this year’s Xmas party. We first need to find a location. George White noted a potential place could be the new Pier One Landing (formerly Schooners) Restaurant that is to open in August in Guyandotte on the Ohio River. Carl Bailey, the owner of the Robert Newland Airport and Fly In Café is running the new place and will have an upstairs meeting room available for groups like ours. Bill Hall will call and get information.
Cruise Saturday July 25th to the Yacht Club at Ripley, WV. Dave Neil & Dan Blackwood to organize. Details to be emailed the week before.
As this was Dan Blackwood’s birthday, the club sang Happy Birthday to him. George White, the official birthday singer, sang off key.
Bill Adjourned the meeting at 11:20 AM.
