May’s meeting was moved to the second Saturday in May due to the Greenbrier Car Show. As it turned out only Jim Patrick attended the show on Saturday, no members were present for Sunday’s show due to weather. Jim reported that the weather was nice on Saturday afternoon. A new Bentley was unveiled at the show, somewhere in the 200k range (comes with a complementary set of luggage).

Dobson, NC British Car Show – Mid April 2019: Kevin Roberts won 1st place in class for his Mini Cooper & Charlie Justice won 1st place in his class for his TR-4A. Those in attendance reported that it was a very nice venue, and are eager to return next year.

Other Items:

Kevin Roberts & Tommy Isaac traveled to Baltimore this weekend to purchase a 78 model MGB with a chrome bumper conversion. They were also looking at several other cars at this location.

Treasurer’s report: Bill state that our treasury has a balance of $2,200 at the present. We recently put on a cookout at Kevin’s garage and purchased several chairs to use at these types of events. In this regard, we will start storing all the clubs equipment (seating, PA system, tables, tools, etc. at his garage. Thus, will be easier to locate when needed.

South Charleston Veterans Parade, Sat May 18th. Larry Kopleman needs (6) vehicles, all convertibles, for guests to ride in the parade. Also need a convertible with a back seat as (2) “Rosy the Riveters”, both in their 90’s will ride in one of the cars. Parade is at 11AM.

Hawk’s Nest Cruise: David Neil noted we traditionally kick-off our cruising season with a Hawk’s Nest Cruise in May. We will do either on Saturday the 18th after the South Charleston parade or on Sunday – depending on which day is the better weather. Charlie Justice will send out details mid week on which day, time & place to meet.

It was noted that the same Triumph club that sponsored the April show in Dobson, NC is putting on a British Car Show in Myrtle Beach in October of this year. May be worth a drive to the beach to attend or take a car to.

Kevin Roberts, although not in attendance this meeting, wants to explore setting up committees within the club to handle specific duties such as cruises, shows, social events, etc. and present recommendations to the general membership at the monthly meetings. This was tabled to a future meeting where Kevin could attend.

This month’s Pistons & Pints will be Thursday, May 23rd at the Fly In Café near Huntington at 6:30 PM. David Chenoweth may fly his plane to the event. The runway gives a great photo opportunity for our cars.

Jim Dumas introduced his friend Larry to the club. Larry is from Rome, OH and has a 78 MGB, Brit Racing Green

The North American MGB Register will have their annual meeting in Traverse City, MI in latter part of June. The club is planning a cookout at Kevin’s garage for a group from NC that will be heading through Charleston to attend the meet. More information on this at the next meeting. Our club is a chapter of the MGB register. We have our club insurance through them.

President Michael adjourned the meeting at 10:15AM for the customary after meeting kibitzing session.
